Marcus Norris Wins Southeastern Composers League Graduate Composition Competition 2017

I’m happy to share with my family and friends that I won 1st prize in the Southeastern Composers League Philip Slates Memorial Competition for Graduate Students (2017) with my piece “You Haven’t Said a Word” for cello quartet, which I will be releasing on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, etc in the near future.

My cash prize will go towards building the record label I mentioned recently with the UCLA fellowship. I composed the piece for cellist Sada Walkiria Adam Morales to play in Havana with her quartet, and produced the recording outside of Chicago with major help from my mentor Mike Cunningham and string musician Andreanna Moravec. My friend and great artist Jonatas Chimen will be doing the cover art. Coming soon!
